The Border

When we arrived at the Canadian bored, we presented the border official with all of the paperwork they required as stated on the website. After a thorough look at the paperwork they deemed us unable to cross the border and told us we needed the title of the 65 year old trailer which was purchased from an estate.

The Disappointment

Anger, denial, acceptance.... ring any bells? We are more than disappointed to be coming home without Maude. We were angry that the border guard refused us entry even after the website clearly stated that we had all the paperwork we needed. This became even more frustrating when we spoke with the CBSA in person and they agreed with us on our documentation. Maude was left in Montana at another storage facility while we figure out how to get her across.

The Follow-up

Much research later, we discovered that the state of Maine will register a trailer with only a Bill of Sale to a person from Canada. Voila! Kathy is a registered owner of a 1950 Airfloat without ever having been to Maine!

6 weeks later, we crossed the border, hooked her up and towed her home. The border guards did not even ask to see inside.
