Removing the damage

We spent probably an hour removing the damaged framing so that we could assess how to close up the side wall and to reinforce the frame from underneath the trailer.

Temporary Fix

Kevin works in IT. Luckily for us, he also has worked in construction in the past and was able to quickly determine that we needed to build an internal frame and bolt two-by 6's to the underside of the trailer through the floor to provide stability. We spent the better part of 3 hours creating the "ribcage" for Maude. The next 4 hours were dedicated to building a sturdy wall frame where the missing structure was so we could add the plywood to keep out the rodents while in storage! The final hour consisted of placing the old tins put back into the trailer, hooking up the lights and taking out the owner's mailbox with Maude's rear end!

Storage Wars

We were fortunate enough to find an outdoor storage facility only 2 blocks away from where we rescued Maude from. We set up an account and pulled her in. Backing in a 26 foot trailer into a parking stall with vehicles on either side was a test of patience and our marriage. The only thing damaged in this 2 hour adventure was the tailgate that we dented a bit on the jack handle of the trailer. 48 hours and we are off to Nevada!
